Sunday 20th May 2001 - I have some good news! The eggs in box3 are at this very moment hatching! When all the chicks have hatched I will add a picture onto the box3 nesting page.

Monday 21st May 2001 - All the eight eggs have now hatched and Mum will keep on sitting on the chicks to keep them all warm and Dad will pop in and out with food for Mum and the chicks. But every so often Mum will go out to get the food as well. As time goes on she will spend less time sitting on them.

Tuesday 22nd May 2001 - Sorry for the delay in getting this image of the chicks. The last few days my laptop has been playing up. I  took this image late this afternoon. Mum and Dad have been in and out of the box all day.

Monday 4th June 2001 - Once more my computer has let me down and I do apologize for not getting this image to you all sooner! As you can see the chicks have been growing at a rate of knots! It should not be too long until they will fledge! Like always I will keep you all posted on their progress!

Thursday 6th June 2001 - The chick are getting very interested in the entrance hole in the box they will keep on jumping up to it and look out. They will some times have a squabble over who's next to look out! I have found it very hard to tell Mum and Dad from the chicks now I would expect them to fledge any day now.

Late this afternoon all of the eight chicks fledged! I will miss them all, just like I do with the Great Tits. In some strange way they become a part of the family. Next year I will be back with a whole new episode. I will leave you with the last pictures of them going! Please hover your mouse over the picture to get some text for that picture.

Last blue tit calling for its Mum! Mum comes right up to the next box to encourage the last chick out! One last look back into the box befor the main flight! The last chick in the box about 1 secound befor he / she leaps out for the first time to the wide open world!

Diary continues......Next Year see you all there!!
