About Box1 - The Blue Tit Box
This is a brand new box for 2008 which is facing south to south east.
I had heard a lot about a business based in Devon called Spring Into Action Wildlife CCTV Specialists. After contacting them the owner agreed to sponsor me with a brand new Pro-resolution package for my website! They can be found at www.wildlifecctv.co.uk or their email is mail@wildlifecctv.co.uk.
The nestbox they supplied was their Spring Into Action Pro-Package. The Nestbox itself is constructed from Native Grown Western Red Cedar obatianed from an approved FSC supplier. The Box is handbuilt and of the finest quality. All Stainless steel screwed construction coupled with dimensions as recommended by the RSPB and BTO respectively. No nasty preservatives are used just a liberal coating of Linseed oil which protects the natural oils in the woods and greatly enhances the overall appearance of the nestbox. The Front panel can be removed to clean out old nests with ease .The White Light Illumination board is programed to allow the natural daylight to come up to a fixed level before the circuit switches on fully which allows natural daylight to illuminate the box slowly then when the set point Lux level is met the full circuit turns on.
This allow a natural wake up in the mornings without distrubing the birds. This overall system allows a natural fading both Dawn and Dusk without a sudden turn on in low light levels. A fault with some systems is the bad quality of circuit design and the constant switching ON/OFF of the illumination which i think can put the birds off. The Spring Into Action board has addressed this and come up with a microprocessor controlled circuit board. Wow we even have microprocessors in nestboxes if only the birds knew how much technology them and their families have above their heads.
The footage on my Live feeds at present doesnt really do the package credit due to a low cost video card in my computer. I am hoping to upgrade my video capture card very shortly to show the images off how good the images really are! The pictures on a TV screen or on a computer with a good video capture card are just amazing! They are the best quality I have seen in a nestbox CCTV packages, I am very impressed....
