Thursday 1st May 2008 - So far there are five eggs in the nest. Mum and Dad keep popping back in from time to time to make sure everything is ok in the box. Mum has been roosting every night since the first egg was laid. The big question is how many eggs will she lay until she starts sitting? Place your bets know :-)

Sunday 4th May 2008 -

It's a lovely day outside to day with the tempachure touching 21c. In the nest there are 8 eggs and I believe this may be all for this year. Mum has been sitting very tightly in the nest all day which is a good indication that incubation has begun.

If this is the case then in about 12-16 days we should have some chicks. From time to time Dad will come into the nest with some food for Mum. (What a gentleman)

Sunday 18 th May 2008 –

Well today is HATCH DAY! In the night Mum was making a lot of noise and at first light I could see a few little chicks!

Dad has been in and out of the box all day so far with food for Mum and the chicks. It’s a lovely warm day outside which I hope will make finding food very easy for this new family starting out.

It’s still very hard to see just how many chicks there are at the moment but I hope over the next few days as they grow a little we will get more of a picture. I can see at the moment there are still 2 eggs which have yet to hatch out.

Friday 23rd May 2008 –

The chicks have been growing at a rate of knots, the last few days the weather has not been very good to our birds with very heavy rain and strong winds. But this has not stopped Mum and Dad as they have been coming in and out with food all through out.

You can see in the bottom right of the image to the right a nice green caterpillar Mum has bought in for the chicks.

Tuesday 27th May 2008 –

Once more the weather still has not been very good for our blue tit family. But saying this Mum and Dad seem to behaving no problem with finding food. It’s only been a few days since the last update and you can see how fast the chicks are growing already.

Although the weather has not been very nice the last week, it has been very hot and sticky and I’m sure it will not be long until we have a thunderstorm perhaps.
